These are days of PSLA, which is not a rare disease, but simply placed under the tree. Here is a selection of the best of the best in Italy , an idea that remains beautiful year after year. My intention Christmas is slightly different, because I want take stock of what went well and what does not in my 2010 full of news . The first full year of "free non-professional", with new customers, new procedures, new challenges and new relationships. I want to write something that can be useful to someone, first of all for me because not always have time to think about what you do and how we do it . And now I want to do.

Things that worked:
  • Personal relationships are always new : my new professional experience has given me the freedom to participate in events, fairs, events, discussions and conferences of interest to me, personal and professional. I had not the agency, for obvious reasons. Both live and via social networking I got to know many people of great quality, expertise and passion with which I was able to confront ever in a completely civil and ironic. Facebook, LinkedIn and Friendfeed are terrific tools to make this easier path, to have the opportunity to ask for opinions and advice in real time to people who excel in their respective fields. Who says these "social well" are waste of time, partly right. But if one learns to use his time well, resources are phenomenal.
  • Working well brings customers: companies I have worked with this year are different and operate in very diverse but I found them all, or nearly so, thanks to the work I've done in past years. Agency's former clients that I have tried, I have reported that older employees, contractors I've met personally and have appreciated the way I do. The quality of the work pays off, anyway. We must not ever believe those who say otherwise.
  • New tools, new experiences: first if I worked almost exclusively in media relations, this year I specialized in managing projects related to creating content for the Web and corporate documentation. And this has greatly enriched my professional background. The development of the blog and the realization of www.riccardopolesel.com allowed me to talk about myself, my work and things I do as I had never done before. In addition they gave me great ideas for reading books for self-training, for more details.
Things did not work:
  • New business from old school: in the first six months of 2010, I made massive items of mail with studies, research and insights for arouse the interest of companies from various sectors on which I had the experience (food and wine, renewable energy, construction, etc.).. Companies that do not directly know, which I made very precise and accurate database, using a lot of time. Result? No customers and very few requests of information. Personal contact is charged, that no impersonal.
  • Time management: 2010 was a year of experimenting on my project management, since I had to manage it entirely alone. The old instruments, joined by Gantt not been successful: not updated them and I was useful. Now I am trying new software to see to find one for me, that is intuitive, fast and flexible. To manage the contacts with clients, projects, meetings and the progress of work more effectively. And put the agenda last paper in the attic.
  • Project development Collaborative born this year I have many ideas and many ideas but I have rarely shared with anyone. The reasons are varied, the uncertainty of the result to lack of time for something extra. In 2011 I want to change this trend, to focus on 2 / 3 ideas and try to involve some professional to see to discuss them, to deepen and eventually to develop them. Do not be afraid to share their projects, we have nothing to lose. In this sense, the network offers us the opportunity to achieve with the help of someone.

Companies I always say that many things need to communicate well and that is not always easy . One of the simplest things to do instead is to have an archive of good quality images . Yesterday, November 30, IGF Italy was presented Manifesto for Open Government ( that can be read here ). What is this? This is the result of teamwork different professionals, united by the desire to promote innovation within the country and Public Administration , who met and compared on these issues ( I had already talked about in this post ). Bring innovation into the PA just seems a little worn and credible election slogan, a subject almost impossible. In an Italy stuck in institutional and political conditions, those who want us to lose some time now? They believe instead . Okay, they wrote a manifesto, not made a revolution. But the most important thing is that they believed in contributions of persons who have freely expressed views, opinions and criticisms about their work . On their blog, social media, e-mail, in person.

"To make our work as shared as possible, we decided to involve all those who want to provide a valuable contribution to the drafting of the Manifesto" was written on the blog. I, like many other people (the names are read in the comments), I expressed my opinion on two principles. In principle 7, which is to educate citizens for participation in the management of public affairs, I would have liked it to be more stressed that requires specific training for all those people who, primarily for personal, non- know about the opportunities offered by the network. But knowing that professionals from various sectors are committed to bring innovation Public Administration and simply reflect on what other people say or write leads me to be optimistic.
