Sun & Casino
In the historical center, the air is light and the sun shines by early August, but June is just begun. Supero medieval churches, small squares, the Baroque facade of a theater and library Malatesta, runs bassi portici su cui si aprono porticine di legno brunito.
Guardano davanti a sé o chiacchierano. Più in là, sdraiati sul prato, un paio di magrebini se la raccontano e ridono. Nessuno li looks bad, nobody minds them, apparently.
When was the route to the bridge central direct Savio, I see the writing on the window: "Casino." It is a day of absolute freedom, it follows the whim and I approach. The door a guy with a beard and a thick coat of mottled patches of all colors makes no effort to a toothy smile. Must be a day off for him.
"So you sell small houses," I do. I am a casual.
"The make and sell," he says. He enjoys a world. In the window, hanging on a wire, it is on display, exactly, a small house. It is a nice location and lopsided, that defies common sense with its crooked lines and bright colors, exaggerated. A wooden house with sloping roof, rounded windows and the door asymmetrical. Very nice.
"Want to see?" Says the bearded man.
As I said, is a day of life and freedom. On the threshold now got a girl, holding in his hand a wooden all colored. A million colors, like the coat of the bearded. She looks at me so insistent and says, "I made it myself."
later meeting his friends, about a dozen. They are a group of boys and girls from the look remote. Their eyes converge in unison on me. They look like little accustomed to receive visitors, in fact barely meet to my greeting, mostly in silence. One of them wears a sort of steel cage around the head, another sits in a wheelchair, two of them are surfing on the internet. In the next room a group of girls sitting around a table. At the center of the table there are pots of color. Each girl wields a brush and a piece of "cottage". The finished works to dry here and there in the rooms above the shelves, trunks, on a sideboard.
What a beautiful way to pass their time, these small houses, I say to myself. But to look good, are unique, each one different, more beautiful than the last. It is impossible to choose one. But some do.
"With the Internet sales all over Italy, "says the bearded clearly satisfied. "And even abroad." Indicates one of the guys in front of the computer and says, "He is our press office. It is also a talented singer, a drummer and a dancer. "
" Even when I played the drums. "
This cheers him very much. "A musician! Musicians are cool, right guys? "
In response, the first girl hands me his tablet and insists:" This I made it. "The others react less than expected. Their eyes say, but that he wants. I'm tempted to point out that I am also a former press officer. Singer and dancer, never, però. Vorrei sedermi lì e creare pezzi unici. Sara mi chiede come mi chiamo. Le casine hanno la priority but you can make an exception to the rule. Before leaving
shake his hand even to the barber and tell him how much I admire his work and everything going on in there. In a day of freedom you can say what you want, be pure, smile as and when. It is usually so easy that it is difficult to stop.
Time to go. I thank everyone, greeting them cheerfully, I look at the casino with a sense of loss.
"If you skim over here, come back soon. True, boys? "
" This I made it. "
" It's beautiful, "I say, and I already feel a crack in my voice.
There is more sunlight than before, there enough for two much larger city of Cesena.
in Turin at the same time it rains and overflowing manholes. I
twenty yards and I suddenly something exploded in his chest. The heart missing a beat. Do not breath well.
To tell you the truth I'm crying in front of everyone. Someone passing by bike, others walk quietly. I feel suffocated, why hold back the tears. I look up to heaven, so if all goes well, no one can see they are wet. Mica
I can explain to them how much beauty there is in such a day. Mica I can tell everybody how I consider myself lucky for the gift of a day like this and the casino and those guys that turn into sweet shapeless pieces of wood works of art, with a simplicity that reminds us of the miracles.
Suddenly I understood everything. I just hope not to forget.
